High Tech Tools Utilized by Vanguard Roofing

The roofing industry has in recent years been transformed by technology.  Most prominent among these tools are satellite or aerial imaging and drones.  Vanguard Roofing employs both of these to the benefit of our customers, as well as to the company.

Satellite or Aerial Imaging

This high tech tool was first introduced in1957 when the Russians put their “Sputnik” into low earth orbit.  Since then the technology has become unbelievably sophisticated and been adopted for multiple purposes, including the building industry.  Use of aerial imaging by Vanguard Roofing allows us to serve our customers better in a variety of ways:

1. It streamlines the process of evaluating and/or inspecting the condition of a roof.  This includes roof dimensions, roof conditions, and identifying the actual roofing product on top. Historically, it was this initial work that was the most time-consuming and tedious, resulting in hours of on-site work that was costly in both time and labor.  Many times, multiple trips had to be made to assess and recheck all the necessary information to formulate a bid or estimate for the work to be done.

2. It enables far greater accuracy in measuring dimensions, and then translating these into more precise numbers for estimating costs and giving customers more reliable proposals for work to be performed.

3. When preparing for actual roof work, it enables Vanguard to be more efficient in the ordering of roof products and materials, thereby eliminating waste and extra cost to the customer.

4. It allows more time on the job site for interaction with the homeowner, and

5. It improves safety since less time is required up front to be on a roof.

Drone Inspections

Only a few years ago these little flying machines begin appearing in the sky all across the country, capturing photos and videos of just about anything from sporting events to weddings to birthday parties and more.  Eventually the technology was adopted by various industries and became a useful tool for a broad range of applications – including the roofing business.

The benefits listed above for aerial imaging are the same for drones.  So what determines which tool Vanguard Roofing uses?  The answer depends on the kind of roof in question, its complexity, the cost of the technology and our judgement of the unique condition and circumstances surrounding each individual job.
